• Meet with an assigned learner on a consistent weekly schedule (in-person or virtual)
• Assess the learner's current level and adjust lesson plans accordingly
• Track progress and share brief updates with the program coordinator
• Maintain patience and cultural sensitivity given language barriers and trauma histories
• Communicate promptly if a session needs to be rescheduled

Qualifications:

• Hard working high school students comfortable with teaching bare minimum the English language
• Comfortable working one-on-one with adults or children from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the same learner over time

Time Commitment:

1-2 hours per week, ideally for a minimum of one semester/3-month term to build rapport and momentum with the learner.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct primary and secondary research on an assigned focus area, including interviews or surveys with refugee community members, partner organizations, or subject-matter volunteers where possible
• Synthesize findings into a brief (needs summary, key gaps, proposed response) to present to the Principal and broader team
• Design one actionable initiative per term that addresses a documented need — e.g., a tutoring curriculum, a recreation program, a health-education workshop series
• Partner with fellow Consultants to plan and execute approved initiatives, including logistics, materials, and volunteer coordination
• Track and report on the impact of implemented initiatives (participation numbers, feedback, outcomes) to inform future research and present to donors
• Maintain regular communication with the Principal on progress, blockers, and timeline

Qualifications:

• Hard-working high school students who are familiar with research-based roles
• Comfortable working independently on research and collaboratively on execution
• Reliable with deadlines and responsive in team communications
• Genuine interest in refugee education, human rights, or international development

Time Commitment:

3-5 hours per week

Responsibilities:

• Learn about how the refugee feels with their current tutor
• Provide support for any questions, concerns, or requests made by the refugee
• Report any significant findings to department leadership
• Communicate with other volunteers in the customer support department
• Attend monthly meetings to share findings with other volunteers and discuss new ways to go about implementing refugee feedback
• After checking in with a refugee multiple times, look into opportunities for outreach/advertisement

• Able to maintain patience and cultural sensitivity given language barriers and trauma histories
• Reliable, punctual, and committed

Time Commitment:

Around 1 hour per week or every other week, ideally for a minimum of one semester/3-month term to build rapport and momentum with the refugee.

Responsibilities:

• Attend the virtual meetings that occur Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 PM CT
• Work and observe the lead mentor of the class as they teach
• Once you have observed 3 lessons, you are then eligible to become a lead mentor
• Track progress and share brief updates with the program coordinator
• Log any and all hours volunteered on POINTAPP software
• Maintain patience and cultural sensitivity given language barriers and trauma histories
• Communicate promptly if you are unable to attend a lesson

Qualifications:

• Hard working students comfortable with teaching bare minimum the English language (math, science, history, and coding are also possible subjects you can teach)
• Comfortable working in a classroom with adults or children from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the lessons

Time Commitment:

1–2 hours per week (depending on the volunteers availability), ideally for a minimum of 3 sessions.

Responsibilities:

• Attend the virtual meetings that occur Saturdays from 5:15-6:00 PM ET
• Work with and observe the lead mentor of the class as they teach
• Eventually start to help in the development of lesson plans and future classes
• Track progress and share brief updates with the program coordinator
• Log any and all hours volunteered on POINTAPP software
• Maintain patience and cultural sensitivity given language barriers and trauma histories
• Communicate promptly if you are unable to attend a lesson

Qualifications:

• Hard working students comfortable with teaching grammar and general literacy instruction
• Comfortable working with a class of adults or children from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the lessons

Time Commitment:

45 min-1 hour per week, ideally for a minimum of 3 sessions.

Responsibilities:

• Responsibilities are flexible and will adapt to your interests; may include (but are not limited to):
• Research and cold-email or cold-call refugee centers, community service organizations, and similar nonprofits to seek partnership opportunities
• Recruit volunteers through personal or organizational (i.e. NHS) contacts
• Research and apply to grant opportunities
• Host local fundraisers or bake sales to fund Edurefuge’s operations
• Create a variety of posts for Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, etc.
• Communicate regularly with your Manager

Qualifications:

• Hardworking high school students interested in general outreach
• Communicative and reliable
• Punctual and able to adhere to deadlines

Time Commitment:

Flexible (1 hour per week minimum), but greater commitment yields leadership opportunities

Responsibilities:

• Develop ideas and action plans for Edurefuge’s long-term social media presence
• Maintain and contribute to an organized content calendar for Edurefuge’s post schedule
• Create social media posts:
• Design coherent visual posts for Instagram and Facebook
• Write short, impactful post captions
• Draft longer-form posts for Reddit and volunteer recruitment forums
• Create short-form video content

Qualifications:

• High schooler with an eye for graphic design and marketing/messaging
• Ability to follow visual brand guidelines and brand identity
• Familiar with creative design tools like Canva

Time Commitment:

Flexible (1 hour per week minimum), but greater commitment yields leadership opportunities
